A ministry of the School Sisters of St. Francis, the Franciscan Resource Center serves the Pittsburgh area as a drop-in center offering reflection days, spiritual direction and open conversation. All are welcome.

The School Sisters of St. Francis following the Gospel of Jesus Christ stand in solidarity with the rights and dignity of all immigrants, migrants and refugees and advocate for immigration policies that respect the dignity of all.

From the earliest days of the Franciscan Order, the followers of St. Francis of Assisi have gathered on the anniversary of his death to commemorate his TRANSITUS, that is St. Francis’ passage from earthly life into everlasting life. Pope Leo XIV has declared this a Jubilee Year to mark the 800th Anniversary of his Transitus. The School Sisters of St. Francis will celebrate this feast at 6:30PM.

Feast of St. Francis of Assisi Sunday, October 4, 2026

On this day Franciscans throughout the world celebrate the life of St. Francis.  It is a time to give thanks for God’s gift of creation, it is a time to promote peace throughout the world, and a time to recall his challenge to live simply, joyfully, and humbly.  May we all take time to remember this great saint.
